Youth Parliament

The Youth Parliament is an innovative, annual, educational program for all schools in Greece. There all the Greek students can acquire political awareness and express their opinion about social issues. This program was organized for the first time in the school year of 1995-1996. A committee of personalities and educators supervises the organization and realization of this program. The first president of the Youth Parliament was Antonis Samarakis. Since March 2010, the author Sophia Zarambouka has been the new president.

The students are selected through a process of a written assignment taking place. The best assignment is announced by the relevant commission of the Greek parliament. Our school which has elected four main members of the Youth Parliament and two substituted, had been participating in this program since 1997. The teachers responsible for the realization of the program are Mr Nikolaos Belis and Mrs Aikaterini Tsola. The main purpose of the youth parliament is to create people who have responsible political and social behavior.
